Expanded Church response

Chaminuka 6On 11th and 15th October, 2007. Jubilee centre through the Expanded Church Response to HIV/AIDS program went to four different communities namely Chifubu, Mapalo, Kawama and Chibuluma to distribute the foods to PLWHA through the Home Based Care (HBC) and school requirements to the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).

Fifty nine churches in the Jubilee Centre network were involved in the distribution of food and school supplies to the affected. Bishop David Ngona said, “We thank God for the co-operation we enjoying with JC. JC understands our needs and we share the same goal. JC is building on what the church is doing in Chifubu rather than starting over again.” Spokesperson for recipients said, “Most of us live on K380 (10 US cents) per day. This support is very big help to our families as the impact of HIV/AIDS has created extremely consequences.” Food and school supplies was distributed to 175 homes and 240 orphans and vulnerable children.

Website training

Matt and Polly Jubilee Centre staffs were all trained at Jubilee Centre on how to maintain the JC and Micah Challenge websites by Matt Freer before he and his wife Polly left to UK. It was interesting during that week when we had the worst internet connection ever! We got there in the end though – which resulted to the changing of the internet provider which is reliable and wireless connection which has resulted JC staffs and volunteers have their own personal websites. Matt and Polly will be greatly missed for their devotion to serve the poor and for their servant attitude.

World wide over 43.7 million people, in 127 countries broke the Guinness World Record – set last year at 23.5 million - for the largest number of people to STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY in 24 hours.

In Zambia the Children spoke out to demand a more urgent political response to the growing crisis of global poverty. They called for government leaders to demonstrate the political will required ending the scourge of poverty once and for all. The program was launched with a prayer gathering that was held at Ndola Bread of Life International and was attended by 20 church leaders.

Pray that the JC Conference Centre, which is currently under construction, will be completed by January 2008. $12,000 is required to complete the centre.
