Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programme - brochure
Jubilee Centre May 23rd, 2008
Organisational Goal:
The Jubilee Centre is a Christian organisation that is dedicated to empower churches, communities and their leaders to grow spiritually, flourish physically and have a voice in the world on issues that concern them and those around them.
The Jubilee Centre Child sponsorship programme is a holistic approach to addressing the needs of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Zambia. Not only does it provide for the child, but also empowers the family with whom the child is living with. Jubilee Centre relies on community churches to identify greatly affected children at risk within their community. With your help, a child’s life can be changed.
Remember… you can change the child’s world.![]()

Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Psalm 82:3
Questions and Answers
Will my child write to me? You can expect contacts from your child a minimum of twice a year and most likely more.
How long should my sponsorship last? The goal is to invest in the child until the child finishes high school, unless circumstances for you or the child change.
Will I be the only person sponsoring the child I’m helping? The child you are helping has only one sponsor:you. That’s why your prayers, letters and support mean so much to your sponsored child. No other group or individual will sponsor the child you help.
Our Commitment to OVCs
Because of the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in our communities, our organization recognizes the need to help those affected by HIV/AIDS who are the orphans and vulnerable children. We are supporting orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in the following ways:
Ensure that your child is communicating with you for a minimum of twice a year
Ensure that the Church is providing spiritual nurture and social support to the child.
Report on general performance of the programme by way of newsletter
Bring the OVC child into a knowledge of God and his son our Lord Jesus Christ.
Teaching the principles of Godly living and on responsibilities and rights of being a citizen in our country.
Provide them with opportunities to be a witness for Christ through serving others.
Provide Educational Support:
Jubilee Centre has been providing educational support to OVCs through paying for their school fees, shoes, books, uniforms and other school requirements. We want to motivate the OVC so that they can be determined to continue their education. By providing educational support, it helps to reduce the number of street kids. We also want to provide educational support in order to reduce illiteracy among the OVCs.
Providing Nutritional Supplements
The orphans and vulnerable children receive food supplements because many of their guardians are too old to work and others are unemployed. We provide food supplements to OVCs and their families in order to boost the health status of the orphans and vulnerable children.
Promote Visitation to OVC by HBC:
JC has been training the community care givers in how to minister to the OVCs in order to encourage them with the word of God and how they can become responsible citizens.
Advocate for OVC Needs:
We have been advocating for the needs of the OVC to the government for free education, affordable health services, tax concession for employees keeping orphans and for food or services aimed at helping orphans e.g. humanitarian and aid for OVC.
ENGAGING OVC IN SPORTS:
The orphans and vulnerable children also participate in soccer, netball and volleyball. This is a way of keeping them physically fit and developing companionship among themselves.
