Grant Distribution

The Church Mobilisation Programme of Jubilee Centre identified 9 pastors and 40 Home Based Care (HBC) volunteers and empowered them with grants so that they can start Income Generating Activities (IGAs).

This is an ambitious effort to empower pastors that they become tent-makers and for HBC DSC00152 (Small) (WinCE)volunteers to have decent life. Over 90% of the pastors we serve do not receive an allowance from their local church. It is also hoped that the grants to the HBC volunteers will provide income to sustain them as they lovingly sacrifice their time and energy to chronically sick people.

The HBC co-ordinators in all our four communities were given bicycles to help them with their visitations.

Home Based Care Training

Jubilee Centre has trained 138 Home based Care volunteers from 56 churches in palliative care. Also, gloves, antiseptic soap and powder, methylated spirit, Vaseline, face towels were distributed to the volunteers to use during their visits.

Mrs. Maureen Milomo a care giver stated, “Using my new acquired skills and my care kit, I have been able to speak Christian hope to a HIV/AIDS patient who has been bed ridden for six months. The other week she even came to church. Her family’s attitude towards her has also changed from that of rejecting her to that of loving and caring. All this has happened because I put into practice what I learnt.”

Youth Action Clubs

Pastor Christopher Chanda has joined JC as Youth Co-ordinator. Pastor Chris’s role is to mobilise and train youth leaders by giving them spiritual and physical reasons to resist sexual pressure and helping them to have dreams for the future. Chris has already conducted a three days workshop for 25 youth leaders from Chifubu and Mapalo churches. Here are some statements that capture the mood of the workshop. Petros stated, “The training has given me a solid foundation to address problem of sexuality.” David, “Being a male virgin is normal. Being a virgin is the most important gift I will give to the woman I will marry.” Chris, “I am thrilled to be playing a role of giving hope that HIV/AIDS will be overcome in Zambia.”

Pastor Temfwe’s Trip to the States

DSCN0139 (Medium) (WinCE) Pastor and Mrs Temfwe were privileged to attend the Willow Creek Leadership Summit. Asked about the conference, Pastor Temfwe told the staff at JC, “It was a practical training about me being changed before I endeavour to go out and change another person. So brothers and sisters be ready to be changed because, I am changed.” Mrs. Temfwe said, “This training emphasized to me that I am part of God’s plan to bring His presence in the community. So men get out of my way that I may fulfil God’s will in my life.” “Overall,” concluded Pastor Temfwe, “the Summit affirmed what we doing here at JC.”
