Jubilee Centre, and interdenominational Christian organization, yesterday donated food, mosquito nets and home –based care kits worth K21 million to 480 people in Chibuluma area in Kalulushi District.

Jubilee Centre Church Mobilization Coordinator, Agnes Zalila said the donation was aimed at empowering people adversely affected by HIV and AIDS.

A total of 120 out of the 480 beneficiaries are living with HIV and AIDS. Mrs. Zalila said the donations Agnes and beneficiaries (Small)came from the United States – based Willow Creek Church, Ridgepoint Community Church and a local organization dubbed Expanded Church Response to HIV and AIDS.

Mrs. Zalila said the Jubilee Centre church mobilization was taking up the challenge to mobilize local church leaders to be active players in ensuring that the local churches work in unity in its response to the socio-economic issues facing the community.

“We strive to assist the local church by providing training and materials geared towards instilling Godly values and practices for Christians. We are currently working with 60 churches in four communities,” she said.

She observed that people living with HIV and AIDS needed to have a nutritious diet in order for their medication to work effectively.

The Ndola-based Jubilee Centre also distributes supplies such as gloves and soap to home-based care volunteers.

Mrs. Zalila commended individuals and organizations working at all levels in providing care for people living with HIV and stemming the spread
