JC Board and Staff Retreat
Jubilee Centre held its board and staff retreat from 13th – 15th November 2008 at LGL lodge. The purpose was to review and revise the strategic plan of 2006. Rev. Neil Warwick from UK facilitated the retreat.
The staff and Board members were encouraged to see that Jubilee Centre was committed to the strategic priorities and operational goals it had outlined for itself in 2006.
“It is humbling to see how Jubilee Centre has grown from Pastor Temfwe’s house to have own offices with 13 staff members and a working board” Said Pastor Maybin Kabwe who is the Board Secretary and founding Board Member. “Being here and having fellowship with fellow Board members and staff has been refreshing” stated Board member, Rev. Godfrida Sumaili

Social Concern: Bringing hope in Christ Name
In its endeavour to serve and empower the churches to be a witness for Christ and His kingdom through
social concerns JC resourced 56 churches with K80m to provide food stuffs to the needy people. This included PLWHA and OVC. The funds were used to purchase among many other things, 25kg bags of Mealie meal, cooking oil, mosquito nets, soap and sugar that were passed on to over 2000 people. Care-givers were provided with supplies which included gloves, and soap. To appreciate and affirm their service of compassion the Care-giver were each given a piece of Chitenge materials.

“This support is doing a lot in reducing stigma, and giving people hope for the future” said pastor Nyimbiri of Chifubu. “My prayer now is that since our people now have hope in Christ and for long life we must help them move beyond merciful ways to getting involved in poverty reduction.” Said Pastor Sunday Zulu of Word of Faith Soul Winning Ministries in Chifubu.
Youth Rally
JC has continued to stir churches to develop a vision in their work with young people that develop character as leaders today and in the future through giving them practical strategies to pursue sexual purity and personal integrity. On 23rd November JC facilitated a youth rally for churches in Mapalo at which 500 young people attended.
The guest speaker, Mr Christopher Mutembo who is the Copperbelt Deputy Permanent Secretary told the young people, “I hope you realise how much your family, friends, your Church, community and your nation needs you. You must never doubt what you can do or what you can be. It is not where you are born or in what family you are being raised that matters. What matters is your love and obedience to God and your future is settled.”
AACC General Assembly
Pastor Lawrence Temfwe attended All Africa Conference of Churches ninth General Assembly (AACC) in Mozambique from 7th – 12th December 2008. When asked about his experience, he said “It was good to see the Assembly speak to the issue of ministry in inner cities, townships and informal settlements. Most people in urban cities live in these communities yet our ministries largely focus in areas where the financial resources are flourishing. There is need to invite Christians to sense the compassion and call of God to plant churches that engage and change the face of poor communities.”
David’s Farewell
David Pierce an intern from Wheaton College in Chicago, USA served with JC for six months. He left
Zambia on 11th December 2008 and will be remembered for his contribution on his case study in integral mission which will help Micah Challenge Zambia and Jubilee Centre in developing a training manual for training pastors in integral mission.

Family Sponsorship Impact
Meet Ray junior, his sister Janet, his mother Rudo and his father Ray Zulu. Ray jr. came into the family sponsorship program some four
years ago. He had no hope of ever getting into school until the Lord brought along a couple moved by God to help him each month with $25. The father is blind and the mother is not in any gainful form of employment. He became blind in 1991 as a result of an accident that occurred in the lab at the University of Zambia where he was studying biochemistry. Ray senior is one of the elders in the church and loves the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind.

The help that comes in each month has helped them send their kids to school. Ray’s father for sometime now has been praying for a house for his family and God heard his cry. Right now they live in his grandmother’s house. He doesn’t have the right of ownership over the house. Recently by the grace of God he joined an organization called Habitat for Humanity. This organization helps build you a house through a loan agreement. The repayment period for the loan is 10 years from when the house is officially handed over to you. Through the monthly support of the child sponsorship he was able to contribute the down payment needed to build the house. Ray testifies: “The family sponsorship program through Jubilee Centre has made my life bearable. It was going to be difficult for me to meet some of the needs of my children as I am not in any form of employment. I give God all the glory”. Mary sang “He extends his mercy to those who fear him.” Please pray for Ray jr. who will be shifting into his own house that God work another mercy to meet the K10,000,000 required to pay the loan.
