Transforming Vision

A vision that God has given does not get lost in the problems. In Jeremiah 12Open Link in New Window the prophet was getting concerned that it was going well for those who do not fear God. Jeremiah could not understand why the unjust were prospering-Why does the way of the wicked prosper? God answers Jeremiah with a question telling him that if he grew faint with lesser trials and felt like quitting, what would you do when the battle got even harder? Simply put, God is asking if you complain about relatively easy challenges, how you will respond to harder times?

The continent of Africa continues to be confronted with destructive issues of African family loyalty, clip_image002[4]fatalism, and tribalism and dominant leadership. These are hard times for Africa. What is the church focus? Does it have God’s perspective of ultimate victory or is it looking for easier solutions such that it has became irrelevant for these hard times? JC has devised a curriculum known as Transformational Journey.

The curriculum is designed to equip church leaders to understand the context of their community and know what God is doing and how they can join him in His transforming journey of individuals, communities and nations.

JC Resource Centre Completed

The JC resource centre is finally completed and was officially opened on 14th September by Rev. Joe Simfukwe, the principal of Theological College of Central Africa who is also Vice-Chairman of Jubilee Centre board.

About 200 people attended the colourful event that was witnessed by a team from Willow Creek Church in the USA and Southridge Community Church in Canada. Scott Pederson a board member of the Willow Creek Global Connection led the team. In his remarks he stated, “ May this building be a place where pastors and church leaders, youth leaders, men and women become equipped, bringing the message of salvation and proclaim the forgiveness of sin, and urge the people of Zambia really make Zambia a Christian Nation.”

Ms. Prisca Kambole the chairperson of the board in her opening commented that, “We are providing this resource to you as church leaders and laypersons as tool to motivate, equip and inspire you to engage your community and make positive contribution in Jesus Name-contribution that bring spiritual harvest, that

make city leaders value the church role in the community, that make community be grateful for your church, and that make community praise God for change happening because of your church involvement.”

A similar workshop was conducted for three days for the Lusaka Church leaders. The facilitators in Lusaka were a team from Willow Creek North Shore Church- Steve Gillen, Jim Whitfield and Jackie Herron. At the end of the workshop a pastor stated, “Our church will never again be confined to two hours of service. We are going to scatter into the community to make Christ known.

JC trains 112 leaders in ITC curriculum

From 8th – 11th October 2009 JC held a training programme for 112 youth leaders, pastors and professionals. Notable among the professionals were Warrant Officer Moses Chapakwenda who is the Chaplain in the Zambia Army and Rev. Sub-inspector Enoch Kambungu the chaplain in Zambia Police. “I have never in my entire life seen people who explain in simplicity about forgiveness and making wise decision” Said Chaplain Enoch Kambungu when asked about the experience.

It was humbling during repentance that people could call the people they wronged and asked for forgiveness.

This was the second time JC trained youth leaders and professional in It Takes Courage youth curriculum. So far JC has trained 232 youth leaders, pastors and professionals in ITC

JC Holds Trainers Training for OVC Care Givers

The Bible contains more than 40 scriptures that show God’s love and compassion for orphans stated Lawrence Temfwe in his paper on why God’s people must care for the fatherless and the neglected segment in our communities. He said this at a Training of Trainers workshop for 25 participants (14 pastors, 4 elders, and 7 volunteers) from all the four communities who met in Ndola at a 4 days intensive training program. Jubilee Centre staff, Paralegal, CINDI –Kitwe, Isubilo –Ndola and some local AWANA trainers facilitated the training.

The participants were provided with the biblical foundation for engaging in ministry of OVC, exposed to the law regarding child abuse and were taught different stages of child development. The session on how to conduct children’s meeting the AWANA way was appreciated very much. Elizabeth Ngona said “I enjoyed

the game so much as it helped me remember my childhood. I have never had so much fun for along time.”

Agness the HIV/AIDS Coordinator stated that “This is the most fruitful time I have hard with pastor and church leaders because they are catching the vision.” All those who were trained will go back and train 299 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) volunteers in their communities by the end of November 2009.
